It was very entertaining thoughout and overall a masterpiece. Sure it's got dated graphics, but can you really call it a terrible game for that? The story can be wonky at times, but is well done at the very least. Pick this game up if you can, you won't be dissapointed!. why do steam insist on selling games that do not work ??? i like many others want to play this game but cannot if you wish to buy the game then remember YOU MUST ASK FOR A REFUND WITHIN A FORTNIGHT OR TOUGH YOU HAVE WASTED YOUR MONEY. Game doesn't work. Crashes when you try to choose a player slot. DO NOT BUY!. Well, I wasn't expecting something great from this game... But I was kinda wrong. This game doesn't pretend to be ambitious, and it's not, but it perfectly fulfills its work. The Egyptian Prophecy: The Fate of Ramses is an entertaining and educational game. The game pays close attention to historical details with quite success. Any historian, or person who likes history and, most of all, Ancient Egypt, will love it... Or, at least, will like it.Getting into the game, the gameplay for me was quite weird at the beginning, but I got used to it few minutes later. This is the first time I played a "point and click" game. It has its difficulty, and has a story that traces, in broad strokes, the characteristics of this ancient civilization: Daily life (houses), monumental works, medicine, rituals, religion... I have to say that the "difficulty curve" is a bit sloppy, but it doesn't make this game impossible anyway. The music is alright.Despite being a 2004 game, I think it didn't age very badly (excluding few minor exceptions). What is a bit problematic, is compatibility. I had some problems, but luckily I fixed those issues. In addition to the game, it brings a lot of extras, such as drawings, music, a "making of" film, etc.In short, I recommend it, even more if it's on some sale, to learn and have a good time.. I generally really like point & click adventrues but prefer 3rd person views, compared to other first person point & click adventures I played this ranks at the bottom, I was so bored after less than an hour that I couldn't get myself to play it again.. Terrible, terrible game.. Complete waste of the couple of dollars I spent on this in the summer sale.. GAH!. It's an adventure game with a Myst-like interface. The story wasn't the greatest but interesting enough to keep me playing. The setting of ancient Egypt was the brightest aspect of the game. The game provides history and game notes in the menus, and after reading it all of the religiousy stuff made more sense. And there were a lot of religiousy stuff. Priests, Gods, Magic, Rituals, Potions, etc. I'm not an Egyptologist, so I don't know how much of it was fictionalized, however, the cities, gods, and historical figures seemed to be real. The graphics were decent for 2004 and the cutscenes were above average. The voice acting was hit or miss. I thought the female characters' voices were excellent. The "find stuff" parts of the game was frustrating. I cheated a few times by Googling where item 'x' was located, because I felt stupid wasting so much time traveling from room-to-room while hovering the mouse cursor over every object to see if it was interactive. Most of the puzzles were on the easy side except for a couple of brain teasers. The last boss battle was the hardest part. That's because the rules to the mini-game weren't completely explained. If the above sounds like your cup of tea, wait for a Steam sale. That's how I bought it. At the low price, expectations were low, and the "pleasant surprise" was high.. for some reason the game won't play. it sends me an error message.. I loved the game! Before I actually review the game itself I want to address the potential players and say a couple of words. First of all I think it's necessary to point out to the fact that it was released in 2004 so please note that and think twice before buying it. It means that the graphics might not be the best, and since you have a much better pc and operating system than we had in 2004 it might as well have some bugs!!! Some very "clever" people just blindly buy a game and then leave a bunch of negative reviews that spoil the impression of the game and I hate it. We all know that Steam never really checks the games before making them avaliable for purchase. So buying a game that was released a long time ago or was, for instance, originally made for PS HAS RISKS! If you don't mind googling the solution and trying to get rid of some bugs you can definitely purchase old games. I personally had 1 problem with The Egyptian Prophecy: The Fate of Ramses: it crashed on launch. I found a solution here https://steamcommunity.com/app/302160/discussions/0/540744475017796790/ .So now about the game. I think it's a decent representative of its genre. What I absolutely love about it is that you don't just need to find certain objects and apply them but you also have to deal with actual puzzles. In this way it reminded me of Nancy Drew games. Well, this game is definitely a good choice for those who consider themselves fans of the adventure point-and-click games. The story is quite short but interesting and engaging. The cherry on the cake is beautiful music and authentic setting! The game also provides some educational information on different aspects of Ancient Egypt (which is not compulsary to read to progress in the game!!!). I was challenged but at the same time I did not need to look for a walkthrough because everything was logical and consistent. The only thing I did not like is 360° view because it always makes me feel a little dizzy heheTo sum it up, I give the game 7 out of 10 just because it is not outstanding even though I loved playing it. It's just a good typical example of a 2000 point-and-click adventure game! ;). This game doesn't work under the latest Windows 10 updates. It's reprehensible that Valve and the publisher continue to list this on the Steam store, it should be removed.
